2012 Volkswagen Touareg

2012 Volkswagen Touareg comes back with its familiar exterior, same basic interior reparations and safety features, and only a little changes to the front and rear end. The company launch the lineup in Europe early this year, showing off the three trim levels – VR6, V6 Sport and V6 Hybrid, and audiences got to see why the company is leaving the shape of the vehicle intact.

Price : It describes its SUV category quite well in that it does not try to draw buyers seeking an even larger crossover vehicle; its price is proper, with the base level VR6 starting at around $45,000. The hybrid will be more expensive than last year’s model, which was approximately $60,000.

Styling : The new alloy wheels, 20 inch, changed from last year, and the chassis itself has been some modified to give the vehicle a slightly more sporty appearance and feel. The 3.6L, 280 horsepower engine revert to its 8-speed automatic transmission with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. The diesel V6 sport has its complete 3.0L engine and this engine is also standard in the hybrid trim.

For now, The interior has stainless steel sill plates and pedals, while the steering wheel has a few more set function controls and is available in a leather wrap. The driver seat and the front passenger seats have been given a sportier look and the driver seat has a new 12-way power adjustment. Little changes to the taillight display and grille are hardly in sight. New color choices for 2012 have not yet been finalized.

Mechanical : All Touareg trims present with a standard rollover sensor system, side and side curtain airbags, a full complement of front, 3-point safety belts and emergency locking retractors for all seats. The standard equipment on all Touareg vehicles, LATCH system, as is the safety Interlock feature, which permits extension of the rear center seat safety belt only when the seat is in a locked position.

All trims belonging to an anti-theft system and immobilizer theft-deterrent technology. Anti-intrusion side door beams are built into the vehicle, and every Touareg has Electronic Stability Control, Engine Braking Assist, Anti-Slip Regulation and ABS Braking System.

The Touareg’s appearance as a mid-size SUV gives this car, many potential buyers, and its sufficient power is also a plus. The hybrid will continue to be upgraded as Volkswagen trades to market this trim to an expanding environmentally-concerned consumer base.
